Albert Kuvezln & Yat-Kha
Re-Covers/(World Village)
A bit like Tom Waits impersonating Count Dracula, Albert Ku-vezin is a Mongolian throat-singer who's taken inspiration from the giants of rock, metal, and coun try. Employing the near-growl of throat-singing, Kuvezin and his band run through tunes like Zep's "When the Levee Breaks," New Order's "Love Will Tear Us Apart," Bob Marley's "Exodus" and more. This is silly, and unless you're a die-hard singing fan, the reason to own this disc is to inflict it on friends. Kuvezin and Yat-Kha perform at the Iron Horse in Northampton, Mass, on Sept. 25.
