This disc breaks no new musical ground for Holland's quintet, but it demonstratres the level of artistic excellence that can be achieved by a jazz group that's been given the rare 21st-century opportunity to perform together on a almost daily basis.

The bassist/leader wrote four of the album's tunes; his colleagues each contributed one, also.  Everyone in this group is an outstanding player, and three have solo careers of their own.  In fact, saxophonist Chris Potter had the commendable "Underground" released under his leadership this year.

Steven Nelson's terrific vibraphone and marimba work deserves special mention, and Robin Eubanks' trombone also contributes mightily to this band's original sound.
