Ever since The Roc got down with Punjabi MC, fusion is as omnipresent in sound as it is on the plates of cosmopolitan restaurants. Still, it is a rare soul who can harmoniously marry sounds from all over the planet. Bole 2 Harlem is a heart-stopping fusion of traditional Ethiopian sounds, uplifting brass, and ethereal harmonies. Ethiopian-American vocalist Maki Siraj and American producer, musician and percussionist David "Ashagre" Schommer joined forces to create an album described by Schommer as "a musical snapshot of Harlem from ten thousand feet up." The result is a beautifully orches trated collection reflective of both Ethiopia and the melting pot that is Harlem. Schommer and his friends got it right when they decided to simply "get together and do what feels and sounds good." That translates to a high- spirited, funky sound guaranteed to make you smile and get down.  01/01/07
