The Cedar Cultural Center opens its season this weekend with a typically eclectic mix of musicians. Friday night's gig features^B|lkan Beat Box's mind-expanding take on world music, which adds a hip-hop beat to traditional folk music from the Balkans, North Africa and the Middle East. Half-local folk duo Storyhill (with John Hermanson of Alva Star and the Hopefuls) plays a sort-of CD- release show Saturday. (The band's new self-titled disc will be available for purchase, although the band is now in talks with a label to give it wider release.) And Sunday, the Cedar hosts Jordanian virtuoso Sakher Hattar sitting in with local world-music combo Cross ing Borders. 09/07/06
