DONA DUMITRU SIMINICA/Sounds from a Bygone Age V. 3:
If you've got a gypsy heritage and want to remember the old times (like 40 years ago), this series keeps the memories alive and isn't afraid to veer into the offbeat, like here. Siminica was a falsetto singer that specialized in tales of love lost, like a mini version of the old Yiddish and Italian theater immigrants loved so much longer ago than that. Even if offbeat, the performance is loaded with gypsy soul and the emotion is enough to take you over the top even if you don't know what he's sad about. This is extreme world beat for the real armchair sonic traveler.
