De retour avec un quatrième effort résolument orienté vers les sons batuque et funana de son Cap-Vert d'origine, où elle délaisse définitivement la soul-gospel-pop de ses deux premiers albums, Lura propose ici un disque presque aussi consistant que son précédent, Di korpu ku alma, paru sous étiquette Lusafrica en 2004. Réalisés par l'omnipotent José da Silva à Lisbonne et Paris (l'homme est responsable de 90 % des productions capverdiennes et gérant de Cesaria Evora), ces 13 titres furent conçus sous le signe de la continuité, sans rupture avec l'opus précédent. Ici, Lura ne chante plus qu'en créole et rend un vibrant hommage au regretté troubadour Orlando Pantera en reprenant quatre de ses chansons. On aimerait bien que la chanteuse lâche un peu son fou de temps en temps, mais on a plutôt misé sur des arrangements organiques et convenus, néanmoins toujours efficaces.
Returning with a fourth effort resolutely directed toward the batuque and funana sounds of her native Cape Verde, in which she definitively left behind the soul-gospel-pop of her last two albums, Lura presents here a disc almost as consistant as its predecessor, Di korpu ku alma, released by the label Lusafrica in 2004. Produced in Lisbon and Paris by the omnipotent Jose da Silva (the man is responsible for 90% of Cape Verdean productions, and is the manager of Cesaria Evora), these 13 titles were programmed with continuity in mind, with no breaks between tracks. Here, Lura only sings in Creole and gives a vibrant tribute to the late troubador Orlando Pantero in interpreting four of his songs. One wishes the singer would unleash herself a bit from time to time, but she relies instead on these organic and convenient arrangements, which are nevertheless always effective. 04/06/07
