ANDY PALACIO & the Garifuna Collective/Watina: A chance encounter owing to a luck of the draw occurrence led to Palacio becoming the standard bearer and savior of a culture that was no more than a generation from becoming extinct. Here we find him bonding with other members of the Garifuna culture and uniting in song showing how it is so not a cliche that music is the universal language. The music here is based on roots music, but the crew does what it has to and what it will shaking it up into a well rounded overview of Garifuna music. Certainly a world beat excursion you wouldn't have thought of that you shouldn't miss. 01/17/07
