It's an imposing task to follow in the footsteps of your father, especially if he was one of Mali's most revered musicians. So far, Vieux Farka Toure is up to the task. A gifted singer and guitarist like his late, legendary dad, Ali Farka Toure, Vieux released his acclaimed self-titled debut CD in February mixing Malian traditions with funk, rock, and reggae for his own inventive brand of North African Sahara Desert blues. Touring in support of a new remix CD, "Vieux Farka Toure Remixed: UFOs Over Bamako," featuring Cheb i Sabbah, Karsh Kale, and Nickodemus, Vieux plays tonight at 7:30 in the MFA's Concerts in the Courtyard series.
