Andy Gill talks to Thom Yorke of Radiohead.
"I like tinariwen because of this odd twisted mixture of drone and blues and Eastern scales that makes you turn your head. The track I first heard was Aldachan Manin which was on the Festival In The Desert record. When I was piecing together The Clock from my record I was thinking of them and the cyclical nature of some their guitar parts. I don't reallyunderstand waht or where this music comes from, but it is like a mirror turning back on guitar music making you think of different possibilities. Rock music needs to be chewed up and spat back out right now and I really appreciate Tinariwen because of that. I hope this year will be really good for them." 02/12/07
