Tinariwen, Aman Iman: Water is Life (World Village): This Saharan/Touareg group is back with what is billed as their third release; I've only heard the second and it did appear on my year's best list awhile back. This might also, for 2007. They've modernized just a bit via their producer/guest guitarist Justin Adams, but tastefully and forcefully. The haunting chants and bluesy drive are fully intact in these studio sessions cut in Bamako, Mali. Highly recommended for anyone into North/West African music. 06/01/07
