MARIZA Over the past few years Portuguese singer Mariza has undeniably become the new face of fado, her homelands melancholy song form. On her most recent studio album, Transparente, she joined forces with Brazilian cellist and arranger Jacques Morelenbaum who famously worked with Caetano Veloso to gild the traditional fado lineup of acoustic guitar and bass with elegant, subdued orchestrations. Many of Morelenbaums arrangements can be heard on the recent Concerto em Lisboa (Times Square), a live recording with the Sinfonietta de Lisboa that affirms Mariza's interpretative power as a vocalist, her accessibility as a conceptualist, and her magnetism as a performer. Tonight she'll be joined by her superb three-piece ensemble. 7:30 PM, Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph, 312-334-7777, $45-$65. 10/16/07
