The second full-lenp from Brooklyn's Balkan Beat Box sounds as culturally diveise as the band's hometown. Kick-ass klezmer fused with hip-hop, lo-fi dub heats and hard-edge European folk set the tone im this Middle Eastem groove fesL You'd he hard pressed to find another leconl with Jewish, Syrian, European, Moroccan and Arabic tones intertwined with classic Brooklyn hip-hop. Standout track, "Digital Monkey," showcases MC Tomer YoseTs gritty reggae vocals laid over sonic outbursts, Middle Eastem hom blasts and a classic dancehall melody. Balkan Beat Box represents a world in which different cultures can combine and create something beautiful and organic. (TD)
