Jose Conde and Ola Fresca

Jose Conde and his band Ola Fresca started out making Cuban music pure and simple. And they're very good at it.

Their new CD is called "Revolucion." The thing is, Conde doesn't want to make the same old Cuban music. This son of Cuban immigrants has been there and done that. So, Ola Fresca's new CD is all about mixing and matching the Cuban sound with something else.

One song is a blend of Cuban and Haitian rhythms. Conde heard Haitian music growing up in Miami. He also heard a lot about Fidel Castro and the Cuban revolution, which Conde's parents fled in the 1960's.

But Conde and Ola Fresca do their best to stay away from Cuban exile politics.

Instead they're out to create a new wave in Cuban music and to get YOU to ride that wave.
