Mr. Bongo Records/Jose Conde-Evolucion (CD)
Jose Conde teams up with his New York-based band Ola Fresxa to caress our ears with some funky Afro-Cuban music with both a groove and a hook. A combination that is both fun to listen and/or dance to. Although his parent fled Cuba in  the 1960's, Jose takes his music away from the politics of Revolution and towards the evolution. Rhythm is the message on cuts as, "Ritmo Y Sabor," the funk and salsa mix of "Cafe Con Sangre," the mambo magic of "Oshiri Pan Pan," a bit of old-school cuban beat for "Descarga Inez," and the Afro-Cuban funk of "Ride La Ola." Conde steps up with the cha cha gem "El Titere," the soca and reggae blend for "Probando Nuevos Sabores," and "El Chacal," described as a funk parody. Bonus tracks have a salsa and timba combination titled "Mi Muscia" along with a jazzed mambo descarga version of "Summertime." Your feet will tap to these rhythms long after the music has stopped. A song for all seasons! 04/27/07
