TORONTO - Zimbabwean megastar, Oliver Mtukudzi was in Toronto on Friday, the first day of the just ended Thanksgiving long weekend. Like they say, anybody who did not go to see him at Healy’s Club, does not know what they missed, so I will tell you.

You missed, once again, a polished performance by one of the world’s most entertaining musician. You see, Tuku – as he is known by his legion of fans all over the world – does not just sing and dance on the stage, he literally tells you a story about his work, his life, his country, his beefs and his likes, then he will act, joke and even mime.

All this happens with his unmistakable lead guitar in tune and - this is the amazing thing for me - his whole act – the unaging (chirambakusakara) Piki Kasamba, drummer (manager) Sam Mataure and a new crew of youngsters including his son, Sam, follow suit and the crowd just want more and more.

The music itself, what can one say, its Tuku music and that translates into “excellent”. Song by song, note by note, step by step, you cannot stop stomping your feet, swaying and singing along.

But, before you know it, the inevitable happens, he strikes “Pangu pese ndasakura ndapedza….” and the show ends.

Till next time Tuku, thanks for making us miss home more and we cannot wait for you to give us more of your fix.
