The label Acoustic Disc promises 100% handmade music, and that's exactly what singer Yolanda Aranda teams with acoustic guitarist Enrique Coria to accomplish. Together they are rather unstoppable, sultry and bubbling with Latin/Spanish affairs of the heart.

The bilingual book tells some of the steam you will unleash on this 15 track album. Consider 'La Malaguena' with its love poem of 'What pretty eyes you have / under those two eyebrows / under those two eyebrows / what pretty eyes you have.'

Then there's the Argentine dance of 'Dicha Santiaguena' ('Happiness in Santiago') which shows off Coria's dexterous fingers while Yolanda immerses herself in a very heartfelt, almost hectic story song. 'I'm back in the place where I was born / happy and serene / how lovely it is to see / the dawns of Santiago once again.' Of course all lyrics are in Spanish.

It's difficult to put the intimate Intimo away after a solitary listen. Visions of Spain, Cuba and all sounds - yes, sounds - of Latin America dance before the eyes. From the spirited to the gentle ballad ('Cancion Mixteca' is a good sample), Yolanda and Enrique slip our minds into an exotic homestead locale where the sun always shines, the bulls always live in fear and where lovers meet nightly to grace the balconies of husbands and wives.

Classic songs from Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Portugal. And look for the deft hands of Coria on previous releases: Solos from South America, and Latin Touch. Worth the look.
