"The Roots of Chicha", it just grows on you.  You keep listening to it and soon you can't stop.  It has dark murky feel, which seperates if from the typical Cumbia sound.  Ancient and modern at the same time.  It's dance music, party music, but good for the slow times of the day as well.  Something to float on in the down-time.  A well balanced album that will feel good in any mood.  This is a product of the '60's Psychedelic wave as it hit South America.  All of the artists are from Peru, and it definitely has the sound of that area.  Glimpses of the folk songs of the Andes shine through a net of electric guitars and vintage keyboard sounds.  This was a time when indigenous people of Peru were flooding to the big city (Lima).  They took the Western music of that time and mixed it with their own musical style.  The result was a whole new sound.  A great sound.
