The Buffalo News, CD Review >>
Almost everything recorded by the great a cappella South African singing group has been nectar from the gods from the minute most of us first heard them on Paul Simon’s great pop classic “Graceland.” This, their latest, is in celebration of the first king of the Zulus and it is the usual melodic, chanting ululating beauty, full of vowel clicks, tongue flutters and vocal sounds that sound so exotic to us at the same time as those incredibly warm, rich, consonant vocal harmonies. Beautiful source music for a world that, one might argue, has been pan-African for almost a century.
