Veteran drummer Steve Reid has played with James Brown, Martha and the Vandellas, Marvin Gaye, John Coltrane, Fela Kuti, Miles Davis and, more recently, British electronica artist Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet. The pair performed at last summer's jazz fest and have released a series of albums documenting their collaborations. Hebden is at Reid's side here as the latter returns to Africa, where he traveled in the '60s. The result varies from the traditional kora of the opener Welcome (featuring Isa Kouyate) to the almost housy Daxaar; the funky jazz number Jiggy Jiggy, and the relentlessly forward-moving Dabronxxar.
