Biography:

 

Pouya Mahmoodi is a songwriter and singer who plays classical and electric guitars , 10 string guitar, Iranian traditional string instruments setar and tanboor (tanbur).

His music is a fusion of Iranian traditional music and western styles such as Jazz and Rock.

Pouya Mahmoodi was born in Tehran in 1975. He started learning to play guitar from his father and later on continued developing his skills on Iranian Folk and Traditional music.

In year 2006 he started recording his solo album which features legendary drummer Billy Cobham on two of the songs.

The album is being mixed and will soon be released on Faryaad , an independent label that he and his friend Hamed Derakhshan have started to publish and promote Pouya's music.

In Feb 2007, Pouya joined Negar Rostami Nejad and 2 Swiss musicians to tour Switzerland and had 8 successful shows. The highlights of the tour were the shows in Atlantis in Basel and Moods in Zurich, which were both sold out.
