The banjo player Jayme Stone immersed himself in Malian musical culture, and returned with this collaboration with the kora player and singer Mansa Sissoko. Bassekou Kouyate, the ubiquitous ngoni player, guests, but Stone also brings the music back home, playing in Americanised banjo styles and enlisting the bluegrass fiddle player Casey Driessen. This is not the first project to make the link between West Africa and the eastern United States, but it does so convincingly. 10/01/08 >> go there
