Jayme's latest album, Africa to Appalachia, which he recorded with a griot/kora player Mansa Sissoko (a distant relative of Yacouba), won the 2009 Juno Award for Best World Music Album. The inspiration for the project came while Jayme was on a seven-week journey to Mali to research the banjo's surviving ancestors. He became curious about the aspects of African music that didn't make it across the ocean with slavery. "I wanted to find out how music is made on their turf," he explains. .

Jayme and Yacouba will be joined on tour by fiddle phenom Mike Barnett, innovative bassist Brandi Disterheft and percussionist extraordinaire Nick Fraser.
