Juno Award-winning banjo player and composer Jayme Stone travelled to Mali to research the origins of banjo music. His experiences with African mentors form the basis of the recording “Africa to Appalachia,” which won the 2009 Juno Award for Best World Music Album.

Yacouba Sissoko, who is from Mali, is a master kora player from the Djeli griot tradition.

The two will join on stage at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bomhard Theater in the Kentucky Center, 501 W. Main St., for a fusion of talents and cultural outlooks.

Tickets are $25. Call (502) 584-7777.
