A spiritual daughter of someone like Peggy Seeger, this Scottish lass digs deep for songs that are way off the charts from way off to the side of the Gaelic songbook. With the charm of a kindergarten teacher that really cares about the kids, Fowlis weaves her magic spell quite nicely and makes the kind of music you would never seek out and certainly woundn’t be thinking about if there wasn’t a performer like her behind it all. As Monty Python would say: And now for something completely different—but certainly in a very good way (we added the end part ).
