Lo'Jo: Au Caberet Sauvage

France's Lo'Jo is probably the most original and surely the most enjoyable world-fusion group around, and this is arguably their best album so far. Built around the strikingly distinctive songs of Denis Pean (think Tom Waits, collaborating with Jacques Brel), the tracks weave irrestible Gypsy rhythms, exotic African and Indian instruments, and the eerie close harmonies of sisters Nadia and Yamina Nid El Mourid. 11/01/02
