KCRW presents Juana Molina with full band and Free Moral Agents. While her one-woman show is mesmerizing, for the very first time Juana will be joined on stage by a full band to reproduce the broad scope of Un Dia in a live setting.
Juana Molina was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was partly raised in Paris, and now finds her self in Southern Cali to bring L.A. some worldly influences. Her tango-singing father taught her guitar at a young age, and that musical upbringing has led this solo power to bloom as an artist who writes, mixes and performs her electonica sound all by her lonesome. Some compare her to Bjork, but you be the judge.
This Argentinean singer, songwriter and actress has come a long way from her acting career to coming into the music world in the late 90’s. Her energetic, electronic, pop rhythms have captured many ears and have even gained her recognition in, not just Argentina, but the world. Her second album, Segundo, was named Best World Music Album 2003 in Entertainment Weekly. Tres Cosas was placed in the Top Ten Records of 2004 by the New York Times. 02/10/09 >> go there
