Native Mexican Lila Downs made a mark on the music scene, having earned a Grammy nomination for her album, Shake Away. Her powerful persona, positive aura and vocals that range from dusky to penetrating have made her 'a coive to be heard.' Downs' longtime band, La Misteriosa, is the driving force behind driving cuts as, "Minimum Wage," the legend of "Skeleton," trailed by an outstanding cover of the Fleetwood Mac hit "Black Magic Woman," sung in both Spanish and English, the emotional "I Would Never," the spirited "Taco De Palabras/Word Taco," and the brassy edged "Los Pollos/The Chickens." Downs uses hermusic to address the heated topics of immigration, political justice, and transformation. Follow her journey with "Tierra De Luz/ Lan of Light," and the explosive "Silent Thunder." Three 'bonus tracks' have the strong lyrics of the title cut "Shake Away," the caressing sound of "I Envy the Wind," and "Nothing But the Truth."
