Time Out Chicago, Concert Review >>

Day two got off to a breezy, sunny late start for me—it was supposed to kick off with maple syrup and Playboy Playmates—but instead I eased into Lolla Saturday with Argentine Federico Aubele and his modernist folk-pop. The easygoing Aubele now calls New York home, and he looked like one of the famous Village folkies turning rocker in his 1966 get-up—Ray-Bans, tight gray slacks and expansive Bob Dylan circa Don’t Look Back ‘do. Aubele didn’t attract a huge crowd—just a satisfied and relaxed one—but his sound was excellent—drummer Jerry Busher’s kick drum thumped along with the Latin figures that Aubele played on a capo-ed classical guitar. He told us he will be back in the fall—good news for sure. 08/09/09 >> go there
