Prospect Park W. at 9th St. (718-855-7882, ext. 45)—June 8: David Byrne performs songs that he recorded under the production helm of Brian Eno, including the iconoclastic music of his old band, the Talking Heads, and material from his albums “My Life in the Bush of Ghosts” and “Everything That Happens Will Happen Today.” June 11: Goran Bregovic, a half-Serbian, half-Croatian Gypsy-music composer, comes to town with his impassioned band, the Weddings and Funerals Orchestra. Bregovic wrote the classic themes for Emir Kusturica’s films “Underground” and “Time of the Gypsies,” and, like his peers in cinematic music Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone, he writes scores that are so powerful that it’s far easier to imagine the music without the movie than the other way around. 06/08/09 >> go there
