An international group catching a global buzz is coming to San Francisco this week. The Watcha Clan are a band of gypsies from Marseilles, France, whose nomadic musical bouillabaisse features Arabic, Hebrew, Yiddish, French, English and Spanish-language vocals over mostly reggae and drum and bass beats. Their 2008 Diaspora Hi-Fi album received rave reviews from music critics, whetting appetites for the follow-up, Diaspora Remixed (dropping August 11 on Piranha Musik) which connects the W-Clan with various remixers, from London's Transglobal Underground to Balkanese beatmaker Shazalakazoo to Parisian DJ Click to Berlin's Spark to NYC's EarthRise SoundSystem.

Watcha Clan appear this Wednesday at the Rickshaw Stop, and if this show is anything like the last cutting-edge world act I told you about (Buraka Som Sistema) at that venue, this will be a show you'll regret missing for months, if not years, if you miss it.
