| Comments: | | The Tuvan band Huun-Huur-Tu decided that their latest album needed something a little different, so they sent the tapes to Carmen Rizzo (of Niyaz), and asked him to work a bit of electro magic on it. The result is one of the most striking, beautiful and uplifting albums I've heard in any genre in a long time. The spike fiddle, the throat singing, the frame drums, and all the other traditional elements of Tuvan folk music sound as if they're being individually showcased and amplified, while the beats incorporate themselves seamlessly and give everything an added dimension of rhythmic power without ever threatening to take over the sound. Absolutely wonderful. (Available through Amazon.) (RA) | 11/01/09 >> go there
