I am here to update you on one of the most transforming and transcending musical experiences of my life, which was seeing Tinariwen at UCLA last night with my friend Manash.

As part of their worldwide tour, they jammed at Royce Hall to a standing, dancing, pulsating crowd which included people of all ages, young and old alike. I was able to take some video and pictures on my iPhone despite being stopped by the usher several times. It’s also a shame that the program did not include the names of the songs they were performing, nor did it list the name of the incredible Mongolian tribal group that played before them, but seriously — best concert I’ve been to in ages.

I urge you all to check out their CD and see a show if they play in the U.S. again!
