Kitka, “Cradle Songs” (Diaphonica)
The women’s vocal ensemble shows the remarkable musical and emotional depth of traditional lullabies from Eastern Europe – with a couple of side trips to American and elsewhere. It’s the sound of mothers throughout the ages trying to process their own fears and anxieties into soothing tunes to ease their wee ones into slumber.
