On Saturday, Nov. 14, the Springstep Performance Series is proud to present “Voices & Bodies” at 7 and 9:30 p.m. at Springstep, 98 George P. Hassett Drive.

“Voices” is an original, a cappella performance piece showcasing the human voice as a truly versatile and expressive instrument. Award-winning composer Philip Hamilton and Kenny “the human orchestra” Muhammad uniquely and creatively combine the influences of international vocal tones and techniques (from Tuvan throat singing to Congolese mouth-clicking, and more) with the rich sounds of cappella singing (from styles as diverse as doo-wop to Gregorian chants).

Keith Terry and Evie Ladin of Crosspulse make music out of anything and everything, blending traditional and contemporary jazz and world music, Appalachian banjo, step dancing traditions and more.

Body Music (also known as body percussion and body drumming) is the oldest music on the planet, with roots in African-American Hambone, flamenco palmas and many other varied styles. Guggenheim fellow and world-renowned artist Terry treats the human body as though it were a full drum kit, and together with musician, dancer, and singer/songwriter Ladin, the Crosspulse Duo is one of the most innovative and original groups around.

Also appearing as special guests will be Max Pollak, creator of New York’s “Rumbatap” and his creative partner, composer Paul Carlon.
