Scythian Stones / Kyrgyzstan vs. TriBeCaStan

This week, a cornucopia of uncommon acoustic instruments from around the world. First, musicians from Yara Arts Group's new theatre piece Scythian Stones, a musical exploration of tensions between tradition and modernity for women in Central Asia and Ukraine. (The piece runs from April 16 to May 2 at La Mama E.T.C.) Including: Kyrgyz multi-instrumentalist Nurbek Serkebaev playing ancient instruments. Plus acclaimed Ukrainian folk singer Nina Matvienko.

Later, the hyper-eclectic musical mad scientists TriBeCaStan serenade us on some of the many far-flung instruments they deployed recording their forthcoming (April 27) release 5 Star Cave. They'll be tuning up for the cd release show at Joe's Pub on May 8.
