The acclaimed Irish sextet Altan is celebrating their 25th anniversary with a new album and a spring North American tour. They will be performing at the Somerville Theatre on March 6th.
Formed by singer/fiddler Mairéad Ni Mhaonaigh and her late husband Frankie Kennedy, Altan has become one of the most renowned traditional bands in Ireland.
Their new album, Altan: 25th Anniversary Celebration (Compass Records), features lush, sensitive orchestrations by renowned Irish composer Fiachra Trench performed by the RTE Concert Orchestra.
