Julie Fowlis is a Scots singer gifted with an unusually clear and agile voice, and with a sharp eye for songs that suit her gifts perfectly. Now officially named by the Scottish government as a Gaelic Ambassador to the World, she has traveled the globe to seek out examples of transplanted Scottish musical influences and traditions, and brought back songs from Brittany, Galicia, Ireland, and America, some of which are included in this lovely program. But there's no hint of ethnological pedantry or even pedagogy in the music itself; it's simply a set of beautiful songs and tunes, carefully arranged and gorgeously sung. 04/04/11 >> go there
