There are many fado-singers out there, but Ana Moura is definitely one of my favorites. I still listen to Guarda-me a vida na mão quite frequently. For those who do not know what a fado-singer is, there’s a great movie/documentary by Carlos Sauro, called Fados (or, you could take the time to listen to three of my all-time favorite fados: Mariza – Maria Lisboa, Mariza – Ó Gente da Minha Terra & Amália Rodrigues – Ai Mouraria). Most tracks on Leva-me aos Fados are what you might call ‘standard’ fados, but there’s something special about Não É Um Fado Normal that makes me want to listen to it more than usual. Perhaps it’s the contribution of Gaiteiros De Lisboa ? 03/11/10 >> go there
