Boston Post Gazette, CD Review >>

Fado in Portugese means "fate" - it is fate that brough the love of that music to Ana Moura.  The fact that she was accepted by the elder fadistas was rare, as the older musicians didn't normally accept young people.  Fate has also her performing, with Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones in the audience, ending with her being invited, to their concert, that ended with her singing with them on stage.  Currently she hangs with Prince who was fascinated with her voice and her music.  Her 17 track CD shines with the title cut "Caso Arrumado," "Fado das aguas," "Fado das magoas" and "Esta noite."  The sultry Moura will be appearing at Boston's Berklee Performance Center on April 17th.  "Fado is to be felt and each person has the freedom to feel and to use the song in their particular way," Moura muses.  "Sometimes we try to describe too much.  I want to leave everyone the freedom to feel fado for themselves." 03/19/10
