Local roots hero Corb Lund, songstress St. Vincent, indie-rockers Man Man, the folk-rockin' Avett Brothers, and Oscar-winning duo The Swell Season will perform at this year's Calgary Folk Music Festival, July 22 to 25 at Prince's Island Park.
The lineup, which also includes several Canadian acts (Stars, Dan Mangan, OX, Ghostkeeper, Timber Timbre) and the woman partly responsible for one of the creepiest love songs ever recorded (Roberta Flack), is posted on calgaryfolkfest.com.
Four-day passes and single day tickets are now on sale through Ticketmaster.
Fans of Edmonton's Folk Fest will have to wait almost two more weeks -- Wednesday, May 26, to be precise -- for the big reveal ... but we do know some of the names. Ben Harper. Levon Helm. Calexico. Kate Rusby. Colin Hay. John Hammond. Alejandro Escovedo.
Sadly, The Avett Brothers will not be coming to Edmonton. They'll be taking some time off to attend a friend's wedding.
Alt-folk siren Sarah Harmer, however, is a good bet as a potential performer -- since she's already booked to play Regina and Banff around the same time.
Our Folk Fest is scheduled for Aug. 4 to 8, counting the Wednesday night fundraiser.
Harmer's new album, Oh Little Fire, is due June 22. The first single, Captive, is now streaming on sarahharmer.com.
