May 26, 2010 - (May 26-September 12) FILLING THE VOID The prolific but brief career of French artist Yves Klein is given its first major stateside retrospective in over 30 years in the exhibit With the Void, Full Powers at the Hirshhorn Museum on the National Mall through September. The show paints a picture of the artist's process as well, with sketches, photographs, letters, and writings alongside Klein's most influential works.

(May 27) AFROPOP ALBUM DROP Local Afropop troupe Elikeh throw a party to celebrate the release of their new album tomorrow night at the Rock and Roll Hotel in Northeast Washington. You're invited to enjoy the rhythms of these African roots revivalists from D.C. and Togo as they transition into the world of funk.

(May 27) GOING UNDERGROUND And the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will celebrate homegrown roots music tomorrow night in North Bethesda and Saturday in Baltimore during Underground Railroad. The symphony teams up with the sumptuous soprano Kathleen Battle and the Morgan State University Choir to showcase the spirituals and hymns of African Americans who sought freedom through this storied passage.
