What to Do? What to Do?
By John Lewis

One of the city’s most vibrant art events, the 8th annual Transmodern Festival runs all weekend at the H&H Building, Current Gallery, 14Karat Cabaret, and other venues around town. You can expect the unexpected. Tonight, John Berndt celebrates the release of an excellent CD, New Logic for Old Saxophones, at the Red Room. And world music fans will want to check out Elikeh at Windup Space.

Tomorrow, bluesman Big Daddy Stallings plays Chef Mac’s on Harford Road and Erin Dickins, a founding member of Manhattan Transfer, plays the Cabaret at Germano’s. Jazz fans might want to head down I-95 to check out pianist Vijay Iyer at the 6th and I Historic Synagogue. And Wide Angle Youth Media holds its annual performance day at Centerstage. Elijah Cummings is the guest speaker, and performances begin at 6 pm.

Jazz great Junior Mance plays the BMA on Sunday afternoon, the Highlandtown Wine Festival runs from 1 to 6 pm at Our Lady of Pompei Convent Garden, the Tokyo String Quartet with Leon Fleisher perform at Shriver Hall, and New York Theater Workshop Artistic Director Jim Nicola will answer questions after Sunday afternoon’s performance of Rent at Towson University.
