Gathering of the Ashkenaz

by Jason Diamond, August 24, 2010

After all the fun had at the Gathering of the Juggalos (Tila Tequila getting rocks thrown at her, people in clown makeup, people who like meth) you really have to wonder how the upcoming Ashkenaz Festival in Toronto can top that.

Balkan Beat Box, 14-piece Jewish/Romani (Gypsy) supergroup The Other Europeans, the avant-garde opera of Frank London’s “Night in the Old Marketplace," Sway Machinery, and Yiddish song "inspired by "80s power pop and arena rock":  That is how the festival full of people that look like you or most of your relatives is going to be the most talked about festival of the summer.
