Karkwa wins 2010 Polaris Prize

Indie rockers Karkwa are the toast of the Canadian music scene after landing the coveted 2010 Polaris Prize.

The band's fourth album, Les Chemins De Verre, scooped them the country's highest musical honour after it was declared the best release of the last 12 months.

The group saw off competition from acts including Caribou, The Besnard Lakes and Broken Social Scene to take the $20,000 cash prize.

Hard rock band F**ked Up scooped last year's award for their record The Chemistry Of Common Life.
