After a night of fantastic and unforgettable performances, arguably Canada’s most prestigious music award, the Polaris Prize, was awarded to Montreal’s Karkwa for Les Chemins de Verre.
The Gala evening sparkled with the likes of Owen Pallett, Dan Mangan, Caribou, Tegan and Sara, Broken Social Scene and more. Memorable parts of the evening included Dan Mangan singing on top of a table on “Robots” and Owen Pallett seemingly more excited about his commemorative poster than anything else.
The members of Karkwa were very humbled in accepting the prize. The band is the first ever francophone act to win the prize, and it can be expected that, in addition to the $20,000 won, they can also expect to see their record sales climb dramatically. This was the case with last year’s winner, Fucked Up.
We at Grayowl Point would like to extend our most heartfelt congratulations to Karkwa, Les Chemins de Verre being their fourth studio album.
