We Love Wednesdays: Our Picks for September 22, 2010

Our weekly guide to what we love right now!

Listen: Polaris 2010 Winners

Last night in Toronto, Montreal's own Karkwa won the coveted Polaris Music Prize over other nominees: Tegan and Sara, Dan Mangan, Broken Social Scene, Caribou, The Besnard Lakes, The Sadies, Shad, Radio Radio and Owen Pallett. The Prize is given to the band (regardless of genre or sales) with the best album of the year, as decided by a panel of judges. The winners receive $20,000.

Karkwa's victory is the first time a franophone band has won the prize, which started in 2006. Past winners include Final Fantasy, Caribou, Patrick Watson and F---ed Up.

Take a listen to Le Pyromane off their Polaris Prize winning album, le chemins de verre.
