Paul Winter: the Symphony of the Earth

Paul Winter’s music embraces the traditions of the world’s cultures as well as to what he calls “the greater symphony of the Earth”. He is the winner of four Grammy Awards and six nominations, and the recipient of the Global 500 Award from the United Nations. The Paul Winter Consort are artists-in-residence at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, where they perform Winter and Summer Solstice Celebrations.

In this podcast Paul Winter talks about the creation of his album Miho: Journey to the Mountain, with music inspired by the I.M. Pei-designed Miho Museum in Japan. He also harks back to his musical beginnings in the 1960s, when the Paul Winter Sextet traveled throughout Latin America on a tour sponsored by the U.S. State Department.
