This week's Best Bets for Feb. 25 - Mar. 3

Featured event
Get ready to dance in the aisles with Irish-American fiddler Eileen Ivers and her band Immigrant Soul. Ivers is a nine-time All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony at The Kennedy Center and the Boston Pops, and was the original musical star of “Riverdance.”

She toured with Hall & Oates for a year in 1990, has played with the Chieftains, Patti Smith and Paula Cole, and appeared on “Late Show With David Letterman” with Sting in November 2009. She co-founded the Irish roots band Cherish the Ladies and is a Grammy-winning musician whose movie soundtracks include “Gangs of New York.”

Her band mates are equally distinguished. Lead singer and percussionist Tommy McDonnell was an original member of the Blues Brothers Band with Dan Aykroyd, and bassist Leo Traversa teaches at Columbia University and enjoys backing Afro-Cuban and Brazilian masters whenever he can.

Acoustic guitarist Greg Anderson's diversity has led to gigs with folk singer Pete Seeger and classical master Itzhak Perlman, and accordion player Buddy Connolly is an All-Ireland Accordion Champion who has played with American roots musicians Tim O'Brien and Kathy Mattea. Plenty of samples of their music can be found on YouTube.

The concert is produced by the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra.
