Straight out of Hammerfest, the northernmost town in the world, come Jienat, the nom-de-joik of Norwegian multi-instrumentalist Andreas Fliflet. Mira, recorded in razor-sharp surround sound, is a mixture of ethnic percussions – there are Argentinean street recordings here, mingling with West African balafon – with the shamanic singing of the Sami.

Fliflet plays the musical saw for his mother on “Tudeer”, and barks like a dog on the title track: irrepressible ingenuity that makes the album perhaps too crowded for its own good.
