Pathbreaking South African jazz trumpeter Hugh Masekelahas often visited Boston to play, but not usually to talk. An expatriate for two decades before returning home, Masekela wrote not only the 1968 hit single “Grazing in the Grass” but also the 1987 Nelson Mandela homage “Bring Him Back Home.” Masekela talks about “The Artist’s Role As Activist” at Lesley University, then heads over to Berklee to do what he’s best known for: conveying activism through great music.
